Once again this year, the teams at Galys Ancenis have organised themselves for an intense few weeks during the eyespot season, as they are committed to processing all samples received within a maximum of five days.

Eyespot is a disease of wheat, caused by two species of fungi: Pseudocerosporella herpotrichoides type R and type W. It is particularly widespread in cool, damp temperate regions, where wheat is mainly sown in autumn.

In the laboratory, eyespot is detected using PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), based on the replication mechanism of fungal DNA.
